A worker, as defined by the Labour Standards Law, is anybody regardless of their occupation who is employed by an employer and paid wages. Whether there exists a contract or not, a person is assessed as a worker if the working relationship involves employment subordination. If a self-employed business works only for one client and it complies 100 % with the management of the client company, then this will be assessed as an employment relationship. In short, if discretionary power regarding your work does not exist, it is deemed to be employment.
